Grantmaking

The Sunrise Project provides strategic grants to partners that share the goal of accelerating the transition to renewable energy. Around two-thirds of the funds we receive are re-granted.

How it works

Strategic Grantmaking

Our grantmaking is not an open-application process. Grants are developed in collaboration with partners identified through our strategy and programs. Funding decisions flow directly from our goals – focused on where support can unlock the greatest impact.

We aim to build collective power by supporting a diversity of organisations and approaches: from community groups and campaign networks to researchers, advocates, and policy and finance partners. Each grant is guided by the same principles that shape all of Sunrise's work: strategic alignment, collaboration, accountability, and equity.
